For 10 years Foodlink’s Freshwise Farm has provided high quality, pesticide-free greens, to Rochester and the surrounding area. Freshwise Farms utilizes both hydroponic and soil-based growing techniques inside their 20,000 sq. ft. greenhouses located in Penfield, NY to supply a variety of fresh lettuces and vegetables to local restaurants, markets, and schools.  Freshwise Farms is also proud of our small flock of heritage-breed chickens, which lay farm fresh eggs available for purchase. We are very proud to annouce that we have signed the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York Farmer's Pledge! Joining the ranks of over 100 other certified and non-certified organic farmers, the Farmer's Pledge (as defined by NOFA-NY here) is a commitment to a broad set of principles that go far beyond the National Organic Program by addressing labor issues, community values and marketing.  It is a commitment that either certified organic farmers or uncertified organic farmers can make to their customers and neighbors.

Additionally, we have created an educational program that truly supplements the fresh, local, healthy, food we provide to the community. By fostering an understanding and appreciation for agriculture, nutrition, and food systems awareness this educational program is intended to curb the obesity and diabetes epidemics that currently plague our youth. We are working with area schools to increase the amount of fresh, locally-grown food found in cafeterias to promote the creation of a healthy food system and economic development of local agriculture in Upstate New York.
